Homework Notes for CIS 166

You must post all your homework on the Web. Your homework should be linked to your homework page to get credit for your work.

Web Resources:

Find as many resources (Books, Websites, Magazines and TV Shows) that will help you "Keep up to speed" in class. You should be able to find at least one page full of resources. (The more resources you find, the better the grade.) C|net Central and Builder.com and Webmonkey are examples of the type of sites you should be looking for.

Welcome Page:

Create a Welcome page that uses prompts and alerts and writing on a page.

Simple Calculator:

Create a simple grade calculator using prompts and display the results on the page and in an alert box. Please don't copy an example of a calculator you found on the web!

Flow Chart:

Create a flow chart for buying a car or a computer!

Complex Calculator:

Create a complex calculator using for objects and complex math (using math functions)

APP for Android:

A very simple app using JQuerry Mobile or Dreamweaver

Javascript or JQuerry script:

Find a cool capability using Javascript or JQuerry. Post the link or book or magazine you found this script and what capabilities the script gives you.

Form Validation:

Create a form using different form objects (input boxes, radio buttons, drop down boxes ..) and validate the form using Javascript or Jquery or PHP. Make sure that the form will submit after validation.

DHTML Page:

Create a webpage that has drop down menus that work and a rollover section. You must use Jquery or Javascript or PHP for this page.

Cookie Placement :

Create two pages. One page that places a cookie and the other that reads the cookie and uses it on a page.

PHP page:

Create a webpage that dynamically pulls data from a database and displays it or takes form data and displays it on another page.

Final Project:

The goal of this project is to show me what you have learned during the semester. Your final project needs to be a complete website. You should have at least four web pages that link together using a drop down menu. In addition to drop down menus on every page, I would use a cookie on a page, rollover content (Description image or menu) and ASP or PHP and validate a form. Please avoid slapping old projects together unless they fit together.

Remember to use javascript appropriately (not for the sake of having it) and you must follow all the rules for good webdesign! I would prefer your site to be a real business or a business you want to start.
