The Faculty Association provides an opportunity to directly and immediately help Maricopa students in need through the Maricopa Colleges Faculty Foundation.
The Faculty Association actively promotes shared governance and faculty leadership participates in formulating policies, procedures, and allocating resources at the college and district levels.
Academic freedom is under relentless attack by special interest groups, judicial decisions, and legislative initiatives. The Faculty Association maintains constant vigilance on these and related matters. It also offers educational workshops on shared governance, academic freedom, peer review, and other professional values and standards.
The Meet and Confer Team works tirelessly to negotiate with the Governing Board to improve salary, benefits, and working conditions for all Residential Faculty. Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions. Only Faculty Association members are eligible to vote on proposed changes to the RFP.
While all Residential faculty benefit from the RFP, only Faculty Association Members are allowed to vote to ratify the annual M&C ballot on changes to the RFP. Make sure your voice counts!
The Faculty Association retains the services of Mike Napier of the Law Offices of Napier, Coury & Baillie, PC to help protect the employment rights of members. Mike has been with the FA for over 35 years and knows us and our contract better than anyone.
The Faculty Association supports faculty involved in grievance and resolution of controversy processes.
FacPAC is the only political action committee in Arizona composed of higher education faculty. Through voluntary contributions to the Faculty PAC, in recent years we have made a decisive difference in electing governing board members and legislators who support students and understand the faculty’s role in achieving student success.
The Faculty Association retains Mike Bielecki of the law firm of Lewis & Roca, LLP to advocate for the interests of our members in legislative, governmental, and other fora. Mike has been essential to our efforts in fighting the Guns on Campus legislation.
Association members, spouses, and dependent children are entitled to a free Will, Living Will, and Healthcare Power of Attorney.
Association members, spouses, and dependent children are entitled to a free one-hour consultation with an attorney on any legal matter.
Association members are entitled to a reduced contingency fee of 25%. Additionally anyone referred by an FA member will receive the same discount.
Association members will be provided with a referral to a qualified attorney at discounted rates for matters such as bankruptcy, family law, criminal defense, and estate planning.
